Gujarat Titans vs. Lucknow Super Giants, Match 4 of the IPL 2022

Home /

Gujarat Titans beat Lucknow Super Giants by five wickets to begin their IPL campaign with a victory. With two balls to spare in a 159-run chase, Rahul Tewatia (40 not out) and Abhinav Manohar (15*) kept their cool and guided Gujarat to victory. Earlier at the Wankhede Stadium, pacer Dushmantha Chameera removed Shubman Gill and Vijay Shankar early in the powerplay, leaving Gujarat Titans reeling at 44 for two after the first six overs. After his team lost two early wickets in the chase, Hardik Pandya joined Matthew Wade. Hardik and Wade added a 50-point collaboration, but both dismissed soon after.

However, I have to credit LSG with a comeback after being relegated to 29/4 in the powerplay due to Shami’s unplayable spell. With a 50-run stand, Deepak Hooda and rookie Ayush Badoni resurrected them. Hooda was dismissed for 55, but he went on to score a fifty in his debut. Even with the ball, they were able to take early wickets and stay in the game. Gujarat’s batsmen, on the other hand, outplayed them on the night, and their hopes to declare their presence in the competition were thwarted.
